| | Of Course, these wines have now been delivered and are no longer
for sale as futures. But we will be preserving this site so that those who
are interested can compare the present retail pricing for these wines with their
value at the time of its future offering. Such comparisons can be
informative and illustrate the value of participating in Bordeaux futures
offerings.
1998 Bordeaux Futures
We quote
from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate:
:
"...in Pessac-Leognan, 1998 is a very good vintage. Some
of the most elegant,
complete wines of the vintage were produced in Pessac-Leognan. "
"The excitement in this vintage is primarily focused in
St.-Emilion and Pomerol. ...This is not a vintage in the style of 1989 and
1990, but rather, one that recalls
the massive Pomerols of 1975. In St. Emilion, Bordeaux’s most exciting
appellation given the extraordinary
number of sexy wines being produced, there are few disappointments, and many
excellent wines." a
vintage that readers of The Wine Advocate
who love Pomerols, and have a taste for
some of the finest wines of St.-Emilion, may
want to consider buying as a future."
Sales
of ‘98 Bordeaux Futures have
been much stronger than expected, attributable
to the uncommonly delicious
offerings coming out
of the
ever popular Pessac /
Leogan,
Pomerol and St. Emilion
appellations.
We find that our
Premieur
Tranche wines are being
quickly
depleted, and the market
for
repurchase in Bordeaux has
prices
increasing by 15 to 25%,
depending
on the property. For
these
reasons, this may very well be
our
last offering at the 1er Tranche pricing
level. If you’ve been waiting
to
make your choices, now is the
time
to lock in your selections at
these
prices. Further delay will put consumers
into the Secondary
Tranches
with the pricing increases
mentioned
above. The Kreston
policy of half down at order placement with
the balance due upon delivery remains
un-changed--We
are the only retailer not requiring
payment in full in advance.
