BORDEAUX 2000...
The Premieur Tranche of Bordeaux 2000 have NOW ARRIVED in the U.S., so futures activity for this vintage has now concluded.  THANK YOU for your participation!!

Of Course, these wines have now been delivered and are no longer for sale as futures.  But we will be preserving this site so that those who are interested can compare the present retail pricing for these wines with their value at the time of its future offering.  Such comparisons can be informative and illustrate the value of participating in Bordeaux futures offerings.

Some Important Items to Keep in Mind When Selecting a Retailer for your Bordeaux Futures Purchase...

1.
Beware of the .com phenomena.  These new technologies enable one to go into
business "instantly," but your futures purchases will not be delivered for nearly two years.
Kreston Liquor Mart has been in business since 1933 and is still in the same location under direct Kreston family ownership and operation.  Visit our "Down Memory Lane" section of this web for our background and history.  We'll be here when your wines arrive.  You can count on that.
And beware also of those who are getting into the futures business for the first time.  Again, these technologies can't substitute for genuine "brick and mortar" retailing, and Kreston Liquor Mart has been
delivering Bordeaux wine futures to our clientele since the 1980 vintage.

  2.              Kreston's is the ONLY retailer allowing you absolute freedom of choice in terms of quantities desired.  From a single bottle to multiple cases...we have no minimums and you can order as much or as little as your would like.  This opportunity to build a cellar of exceptionally fine wines for those unable to store or afford full or half case quantities is a Kreston hallmark.  It's putting into practice our philosophy of "wine for all the people" and is how we have sold futures since our beginning in that segment of the wine business 20 vintages ago.

 3.                Kreston's policy of requiring only 50% of your purchase price at the time of your order, with the balance due at delivery, remains unusual in an industry that routinely requires a full 100% of your monies up front to participate in the futures purchase of these wines.  Factor that into the cost of these wines and you will find that Kreston's pricing is one of, if not the most attractive in the futures business.  At this stage of the offering of Bordeaux 2000, we've been faced with either raising our pricing on the deuxieme tranche, or modifying our deposit terms.  We've chosen the latter, and all wines ordered after 4/1/02 will require a 100% deposit, a course we feel is more attractive than price increases of 30+%.  We think you would agree.

 4.                And lastly, Kreston's is located in Delaware.  Famous for the absence of any sales taxes on your purchases.  Factor that into your purchasing decision, and you will find, like so many others have, that doing your futures business with Kreston Liquor Mart is simply the smart thing to do.

First, a short word from Joe Neuberger, Kreston's Wine Seller, who has participated in every futures vintage since his first in Bordeaux's 1980 vintage

We're so excited, we can barely contain ourselves.  I'm talking, less than once in a decade excited!  I'm talking, not in the last 20 years excited!  It is that kind of vintage...

But there's other factors at play here.  Big factors.  The confluence of time and destiny factors.  You see Bordeaux, and most of the French wine scene in general, has been going through a seemingly accelerated period of transition.  Read the "Boomers" are taking the reins.  And with this transition over the last decade incredible amounts of money has been pouring into needy estates.  Gone are the 500 and 1000 gallon wooden fermentation vats, some of which went back to World War I.  In has come stainless steel with temperature control.  The effect this one great change alone has had on the overall quality of the wines has been astounding.  But this new generation comes well schooled too.  Oenology at the University of Bordeaux thrives.  And these young (40's and 50's) turks are determined to express the individuality of their particular terroirs.  And succeed they have.  And given the grace of a great vintage's fruit, they have excelled tremendously.  We have been confirming it over and over.  Those coming from early tastings of this great vintage unanimously sing its praises.  As ROBERT PARKER  just published in his current WINE ADVOCATE :

"Considering all appellations, the greatest vintage since 1990...given the superlative quality of many lesser known wines, and the new generation of superstars from satellite appellations such as Cotes de Castillon, Lalande de Pomerol, Cotes de Bourg, and even the Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux,
frugal consumers could easily stock an entire cellar from these regions with sumptuous wines rated 88 and above that will retail for well under $ 20.00 a bottle. There are numerous terrific wines from these sectors as well as lower level St. Emilions, in addition to Fronsacs and Crus Bourgeois from the Medoc. This is the finest Bordeaux vintage since 1982 for wines with lesser pedigrees. Good hunting!".

And there is the challenge.   Great drinking over the next decade with wines of reasonable cost from this great vintage.  Oh Boy!  Stay Tuned.

AND DON'T FORGET.....
to consult the published comments concerning this vintage's output.  You can review the buzz at the Wine Spectator Online at http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Spectator/bordeaux2000/home.html or get the European angle on this vintage from Decanter Magazine's online site at www.Decanter.com.  As always, we are available for your consultation and advice by calling 302-652-3792 and asking for Bob Kreston or Joe Neuberger or online at Info@KrestonWines.com.

AND LASTLY....
it simply looks like a time gone by.  Look at the incredible array of wines in the 88 to 92 point range IN THE UNDER $20 CATEGORY!!  It's going to be fun selling these wines.  Great Year.  Great Pricing.  Bordeaux is back in a big way.  But get yours early, because at these prices they will not last long.  (See Joe's Personal Picks)

The Premieur Tranche of Bordeaux 2000 have NOW ARRIVED in the U.S., so futures activity for this vintage has now concluded.  THANK YOU for your participation!!
