Subject: Kreston's Day of Great Wines on Friday, 11/15: Two FREE In-Store Events AND a St. Michelle Dinner

Greetings Wine Lovers,
Let the Holiday social events begin!!  And next Friday would be a great day to take the afternoon off and spend it as a day of wine education and great fellowship.  Beginning at noon and running until 4pm representatives from Neil Epson Imports, renowned for their pioneering work in the import of great, small estate Italian wines, will be on hand to taste from among their portfolio.
THEN from 3 until 6pm expert xenophile and good friend Alain Blanchon will be on hand to taste through the EXTRAORDINARY 2000 VINTAGE WHITE BURGUNDIES OF LATOUR GIRAUD.  Full line-up of wines with reviews can be accessed at www.KrestonWines.com/Giraud_Wt__Burgundies.htm
And what better way to cap off this great afternoon of Italian Estate Wines and exquisite French White Burgundies than by sitting down to an exquisite multi-course feast.  So join us for Friday evening's Harvest Dinner Celebration featuring the wines of the Pacific Northwest of Chateau St. Michelle with a multi-course feast prepared by the kitchens of Wilmington's University and Whist Club.  Details with menu and wines to be served can be accessed at
www.KrestonWines.com/Coming_Events.htm.  Reservations are $67 per person.  So please call 302-652-3792 and ask for Edd Barba.
So please be sure to join us for any and all of Friday's wine-focused events beginning at Noon.
Lastly, the latest Kreston Konnection with our Holiday Harvest Sale 2002 is now available and our new 2003 Guide to Good Hosting should arrive this week.  But you can get details and PDF access at www.KrestonWines.com and look for the links to the left.  You'll get a couple of days jump on the "snail-mail" bunch, so take advantage of the hundreds of specially selected sale items in this year's editions.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  Join us to kick off the Holidays a little early this Friday for this great trio of wine events and please check out the new Kreston Konnection and Guide to Good Hosting above.
Regards,
Joe Neuberger

2000 Latour Giraud Meursault Boucheres
Latour Giraud

Review by Pierre Rovani
Wine Advocate #138 (Dec 2001)
Rating: (88-90) points
Drink 2001-2007

The fresh 2000 Meursault Boucheres reveals crisp apple aromas and a lovely, satin-textured, medium to full-bodied character. It is powerful, spicy, beautifully ripe, and crammed with sweet pear flavors. Drink it over the next 6 years.

Latour Giraud

Review by Pierre Rovani
Wine Advocate #138 (Dec 2001)
Rating: (90-91) points
Drink 2001-2009

The floral and apricot-scented 2000 Meursault Charmes is a concentrated, vinous, medium to full-bodied wine. Satin-textured, it coats the palate with ripe pears and apples whose flavors last throughout its long finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2009

Latour Giraud Meursault Cuvee Charles Maxime
Latour Giraud

Review by Pierre Rovani
Wine Advocate #138 (Dec 2001)
Rating: (87-89) points
Drink 2001-2006

The 2000 Meursault Cuvee Charles Maxime displays mineral and white fruit aromas that lead to a creamy, silky, medium-bodied character. Opulent layers of pears and apples are found throughout this forward wine's flavor profile as well as in its appealing finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

 DOMAINE LATOUR-GIRAUD- VINTAGE 2000/PAGE 3

2000 Latour Giraud Meursault Genevrieres
Latour Giraud

Review by Pierre Rovani
Wine Advocate #138 (Dec 2001)
Rating: (90-91) points
Drink 2001-2011
Estimated Cost: $40.00

The super-expressive 2000 Meursault Genevrieres is bursting at the seams with spice and liquid mineral aromas. This delightfully broad wine is medium to full-bodied, crammed with butter, spices, juicy apples, and pears. It is layered, muscular, plush, and fruit-forward. Enjoy it over the next 10 years.

2000 Latour Giraud Meursault Perrieres
Latour Giraud

Review by Pierre Rovani
Wine Advocate #138 (Dec 2001)
Rating: (88-90) points

The 2000 Meursault Perrieres exhibits ripe white fruit aromas and an ample, detailed character. While it lacks concentration, it is highly delineated and exhibits an appealingly tangy, citrus-filled finish.

DOMAINE LATOUR-GIRAUD- VINTAGE 2000/PAGE 4

2000 Latour Giraud Meursault Limozin
Latour Giraud

Review by Pierre Rovani
Wine Advocate #138 (Dec 2001)
Rating: (88-89) points
Drink 2001-2006

Juicy apples and buttered toast can be discerned in the aromatics of the 2000 Meursault Le Limozin. Medium-bodied and revealing excellent depth of fruit, this intense wine is composed of lively apples, lemons, and minerals. Drink it over the next 5 years.

Another Fun & Funky Wine Dinner

An Exotic Evening of
Traditional Moroccan Cuisine

Monday October 21st 6:30pm
$35 Per Person All Inclusive

An evening to Remember. We will marvel at the room complete with Daggers on the wall, colorful Tapestries, Banquettes upholstered in heavy,  plush fabrics with a background of sound of Keyboard, drums and finger cymbals. Then there will be the host's Caftan and Fez!
The thrill of eating with our fingers in Public!!! Oooh!!
The meal is billed as a holiday-styled dinner, which accurately describes the feeling of abundance and complexity in every course as we lounge on benches, and pillows. Each course arrives with a flourish, a short explanation of ingredients and an expression of hospitality.

The
moroccan salad platter is a mosaic of cucumber, tomato, sweet pepper & Coriander; another row of garlicky carrots; and more of roasted eggplant - All arranged in colorful ranks on one large platter. Our only utensil will be chunks torn off the warm semi-flat Bread-also known as kobiz.    With a large towel in our laps we will learn to wield the Bread/Spoon with minor dribbles. The Towels are a step up from the storied practice of offering guests Persian hounds as furry handiwipes...
Pitracolata Orvieto Classico 00

Next comes an appetizer that is unexpectedly sweet, but refreshing as a preamble to heavier courses. Bisteeya, is a round flaky Phyllo dough filled  with Chicken, Chopped Eggs and Almonds topped with Confectioners Sugar & Cinnamon.
Cockatoo Ridge Chardonnay '01
Cockatoo Ridge Cab-Merlot Blend

Next comes your entrée, Chicken with lemon and Olives
Mystery Wine from Uruguay

Also there is Lamb with Honey & Almonds.
Stanley Brothers Black Sheep Malbec Merlot '99

Just when you think you've seen all you can possibly eat,
the Couscous arrives. This is perhaps the signature dish of Moroccan Cuisine.
Tregole Chianti 00

Then out comes a large fruit plate, filled with bananas, white grapes, peaches, oranges, and apples. Also Baklava and Mint tea, Turkish or regular coffee
Tohu Sauvingnon Blanc 01
