Wine Tastings and Dinners
Kreston's hosts
dozens of wine tasting
events and wine centered dinners during the course of the year.
Some of these
are in-store, like our Saturday Tastings
which
occur on every Saturday of the year from Noon to 4pm, with the exception of the
Saturday before Christmas. These tastings cover the Wide World of Wine and are always
free, always fun
and
always informative.
They are hosted by different
industry personalities, from the salespersons affiliated with the particular
wines being examined to the Winemakers themselves! Topics for these Saturday
events change weekly, and the emphasis is always on expanding your knowledge of
wine through exposure to the products themselves. That, and how to have fun with
wine as an enhancement to the appreciation of food. For at Kreston's we believe that
wine, as part and parcel of "living the good life," can raise the mundane
to new levels of excitement. There are plenty of wines in today's
marketplace that are of high quality and of reasonable price to be
enjoyed as part of everyday living in the European tradition.
In addition to these Saturday events, Kreston's hosts various Formal Tastings in sit-down or walk-a-bout formats throughout the year. These events are held at various area restaurants and clubs and feature guest speakers who are experts in the field being examined. Owners of vineyard properties, their winemakers and employees along with wine writers are but a few examples of the types of knowledgeable professionals who have favored us with their expertise at these various events.
Some events have become Kreston Traditions and are held on a yearly basis. The year 2001 was the 18th year in a row for our Holiday Champagne Shoot-Out which features dozens and dozens of the World's finest sparkling wines. 2001's event entertained 300+ people who got their fill of great food, great wine and great fellowship. Other yearly events are our Tastings and Silent Auctions which are held for the benefit of Wilmington's Mary Campbell Center, a residential home catering to the needs of the disabled, and also the yearly event for the benefit of the community service projects of the Brandywine Hundred Chapter of Rotary International. Both of these fine affairs are always well subscribed and have raised tens of thousands of dollars for these great and worthy causes.
And new in 1999 and continuing to the present day has been our series of "Funky & Fun Dinners." These monthly get togethers strive for affordability in a great evening out and feature eclectic food and wine experiences where fun is the main theme. The events in 2001 and 2002 were all been fully subscribed sell-outs. So register early if the 2003 events should appeal to you.
So get a look at some of our Past Events, and get your reservations in early for those Coming Events that should catch your eye. Join us for some serious, analytical examinations of wine, or for events that emphasize fun and levity. Kreston's tastings throughout the year cover all of these bases.
